AMTRAK ARRIVALS
The following information was obtained from Amtrak and Ft Wayne local taxi and limo service:
1. Trains typically arrive early in the AM, which is good to get there during the daylight.
2. The ride to Ft. Wayne is approx 30-40 minutes.
3. You would need to make arrangements in advance for pickup because Waterloo is just a stop-nothing there.
4. When planning/reserving your pick up, don't forget to account for luggage. You may want to request a van.
5. Don't forget to make your return reservations.

The cost is $65 one way, again can be divided by the number of people traveling. For example, 5 people traveling would equate to $13 + tip per person.
Deluxe Taxi (260) 426-8555 or A-1 Limo/Taxi (260) 918-0879 The cost is $80 one way--but this cost can be shared by those traveling together. For example, 5 people traveling would equate to $16 + tip per person.
AIRPORT ARRIVAL
Those arriving into Ft Wayne via the airport, the Hilton has a shuttle to get you to and from the airport. It's best to call the day ahead to tell the hotel when your plane will arrive. The phone number is (260) 420-1100. Or there is a phone in the baggage area directly to the Hotel to alert them you need to be picked up and taken to their hotel.
The overflow hotel, Ft Wayne Hotel and Convention Center (AKA-Clarion Hotel on the earlier website information, but they are not associated with the Clarion) can be contacted either by cell phone, pay phone at the airport to alert them that you require to be picked up and taken to their hotel. If you are staying here, their phone number is (260) 422-5511.
Based on the time of day 8AM-5PM could take approx 20 minutes, unless someone has already placed the call-you could get lucky (smile) or a little longer with late traffic after 5 PM.
The Yellow Taxi Cab Company is offering a 25% discount for this event only for rides from airport - arrangements should be made directly with the cab company.

EVENT TRANSPORTATION
To help get participants to and from the library/hotel/African Museum, if required, the Yellow Taxi Cab and Rockaway Carriage Company are offering special ride rates/passes. This could be especially useful for those who have limited walking capabilities. A transportation table will be available at time of registration for those who are interested in purchasing ride passes or have questions.
Rockaway Carriage would give the participants an opportunity to take the nostalgic ride to close locations for lunch, dinner, hotel, museum and back to library or hotel for $5.00 per person per trip.
The Yellow Taxi Cab is offering a flat rate of $5.00 for 3 people ($1.70 per person) per trip for nearby locations. These ride passes will save you, especially if you are traveling with companions. For example, if one, two or three of you are traveling between the hotel and library, only one ride pass will need to be punched. There will be a sign in sheet to see if we can bundle people together if you're traveling alone. If the participants want to go to the mall or places within a three mile radius of the library, the cab company is offering a 25% discount for this event only. This service is also available from the airport and arrangements should be made directly with the cab company.
The Ft Wayne Hotel (overflow hotel) is approximatey 3 blocks away. The Ft Wayne Hotel has a shuttle that will take you to the hotel or library, but you are cautioned to not wait until the last moment to come to any activity because it may be in use to take someone to the airport, etc.
